Radio 1's JK and Joel promoted to five days a week

BBC Radio 1 announced today that Radio 1 Chart Show presenters JK and Joel would be the new hosts of the Early Breakfast show (Monday to Thursday) from September 2005.

The boys will continue to present the Radio 1 Chart Show when they take over the 4.00 to 7.00am slot.

In further Radio 1 news, the station will announce in the near future an exciting new show which will fill the 4.00 to 7.00am slot on Fridays.

JK and Joel said: "This is a slot that we intend to make our own. We've got the brilliant mix of new music and we now want to stamp our personality on the show.

"We already get to reveal the official number one every Sunday, so it's amazing that we're now going to be on the station throughout the week as well."

Radio 1 controller Andy Parfitt said: "JK and Joel are Radio 1 talents. They've got engaging personalities and a real sense of fun.

"They've done a great job on the new Chart Show and we felt it was time that our audience got to hear a lot more of them.

"We are always sad to lose a team member and Nemone has been brilliant in her five years at the station. I've been impressed with her recent work on Radio 5 Live and I wish her all success for the future."

Nemone will leave the station in September to pursue other interests in radio and TV.

Nemone said: "I've enjoyed five brilliant years at Radio 1 and worked with some great people. I'm looking forward to new challenges in radio and television... and not having to set my alarm for 2.00am!"

From Monday 26 September 2005:

JK and Joel: Monday-Thursday 4.00-7.00am

Ferne and Reggie: Friday 4.00-7.00am

JK and Joel: The Radio 1 Chart Show, Sunday 4.00-7.00pm
