Date: 16.11.2004

Radio 1's hot new presenters JK and Joel are returning to their radio roots for BBC Children in Need's regional concert in Hull this Friday (19 November).

The pair – who have been described as two of the hottest talents in UK broadcasting – have been signed up to compere the event which takes place at West Park near the KC Stadium from 7.00pm.

Seven live acts have now been confirmed for the free concert which forms part of the nationwide 25th anniversary celebrations of the flagship BBC Children in Need broadcasts.

JK (Jason King) and Joel (Joel Ross) first started working together on the breakfast show on Viking Radio in Hull.

Their cheeky, laddish-style is currently winning them fans on Radio 1 where they present the 1.00-4.00pm slot on Saturdays and Sundays.

The duo have also picked up several awards for their broadcasting skills.

At the Sony Radio Awards this year they scooped a gold award for best breakfast show (which they fronted for Manchester's Key 103) and a silver award in the entertainment show category.

Joel said: "We thought we'd seen the last of Hull – but just as you get out, they pull you back in!

"Seriously, we're really looking forward to returning to the city – we've got some great memories of working there on Radio Viking.

"It'll be all the more special as it's to help celebrate the 25th birthday of the one and only Pudsey Bear."

JK said: "It should be a brilliant night, and some of the biggest names in pop will be there!

"It's gonna be one heck of a party and of course it's free to get in. And it's all in a good cause. Do you really need any more reasons to come along? I don't think so!"

Producer Jay Jones is confident the party will be an event to remember now JK and Joel have agreed to take part.

Jay said: "We're delighted JK and Joel will be hosting the event – I'm sure they'll really lift the party atmosphere.

"Every gig like this needs someone to get the audience fired up and we're sure JK and Joel will do a sterling job.

"They started their broadcasting careers together in Hull so it seems fitting that they'll be making a welcome return to the city to celebrate BBC Children in Need's 25th anniversary."

Also booked for the concert are McFly, Lemar, Roxanne Cooper, Icehouse, Tom Ritchie, Ttorria and Noise Next Door.
